ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

WASTE:

  Our waste bread is given to local farmers as animal feed, none goes to landfill.

60% of our waste is recyclable

30% of our food waste is composted (for electricity and fertiliser).

This year (2019) we have reduced our landfill by 70% (10% of our total waste goes to landfill)

 

PACKAGING:

We use reusable or recyclable delivery trays for deliveries to our own shops and wholesale customers.

Our suppliers deliver their goods in reusable or recyclable containers; i.e. milk churns, egg boxes and flour sacks

Our slicing and paper bags are both recyclable or compostable.

 

ENERGY:

  Bakery has LED low energy lighting

Bakery heating by the ovens

The ovens are 80% electric & 20% wood fired

Delivery routes are carefully planned to reduce fuel consumption.

 

SUPPLIERS & COMMUNITY:

·         We purchase locally wherever possible from farmers and craftsmen; including

our cheeses, milk, eggs, some of our flours, sausage meat, beer and oils etc.

 WE DO NOT USE PALM OIL IN ANY OF OUR PRODUCTS
