Disappointed with my order

I was disappointed with my last order from Hambletons bakery West Bridgford. I put in a special order for 2 x loaves to be picked up on Saturday 26th ready for a party on Sunday lunchtime on 27th.
When I opened the plastic on the Sunday morning, the bread was dry and the crusts brittle.
My daughter subsequently called at the bakery for bread without ordering it the following Thursday 31st July and this was fresh and fine. Am I wrong to conclude that if you order, you get older bread?
